Seetag/Day at Sea 5 auf der/on QUEEN VICTORIA

Wir sitzen, wie üblich morgens, ganz hinten am Heck. Wir beobachten die Wellen. Sieht nicht unbedingt ruhig aus. Wir hören anderen deutschen Gästen zu: Eine Frau wundert sich wie "kurz" das Schiff ist. Ihr Mann erklärt ihr, dass sie am Heck sitzen und die Distanz zwischen Steuerbord und Backbord nicht die Länge des Schiffes ist, sondern die Breite.



As usual in the morning, we sit at the very back at the rear. We watch the waves, and doesn't precisely look calm. We listen to other German guests: A woman wonders how "short" the ship is. Her husband explains that they are sitting at the stern and that the distance between starboard and port is not the length of the vessel but the width.







Da ich immer noch müde bin, bleibt nicht viel Programm am Vormittag, an dem ich teilnehme und es geht dann auch bald zum Mittagessen.



Since I'm still tired, there isn't much program in the morning that I take part in, and then it's time for lunch soon.

In between, we show up in the Chart Room and try other coffee and tea specialties. Jonathan is also a charming waiter here at the Chart Room.



Zwischendurch tauchen wir im Chart Room auf und probieren weitere Kaffee- und Teespezialitäten durch. Auch Jonathan ist ein sehr netter Kellner hier im Chart Room.





Nach dem Mittagessen geht es zum zweiten Konzert von Carlos Bonell. Wie versprochen gibt es die Recuerdos de la Alhambra. Zum Wegschmelzen! Es gibt noch Concierto de Aranjuez. Himmlisch! Und dann noch Suite española. Ich bin sprachlos. Aber auch zwei Frauen meinen, dass sie während des Konzertes laut quatschen müssen. Kurzerhand werden sie von einem Crew-Mitglied aufgefordert still zu sein oder zu gehen. Sie gehen lieber.



After lunch, we go to the second concert by Carlos Bonell. As promised, there are the Recuerdos de la Alhambra. To melt away! There is still Concierto de Aranjuez. Heavenly! And then Suite Española. I'm speechless. But two women also think they must chat loudly during the concert. Without further ado, a crew member tells them to be quiet or to leave. They better go.





Fencing lessons take place in the YachtClub.



Im YachtClub findet der Fechtunterricht statt.

Wir sind mal wieder im Commodore Club. Ich probiere hier das stille Wasser, das verkauft wird. Das Wasser aus der wiederverschließbaren Dose schmeckt mir nicht. Sojan bringt uns kurzerhand die Gesamtauswahl der Teesorten auf dem Tablett, als wir nachfragen, welche Teesorten hier erhältlich sind. Er macht alles für uns: er packt den Teebeutel aus und legt ihn in das heiße Wasser. Perfekter Service.



We're back in the Commodore Club. I taste the still water sold here, and I wouldn't say I like the water from the resealable can. Sojan brings the entire tea on the tray when we ask which teas are available. He does everything for us: unwraps the tea bag and puts it in hot water. Perfect service.

We look at our neighbors, but we don't see anyone on the balcony.



Wir gucken mal zu unseren Nachbarn: aber wieder entdecken wir niemanden auf dem Balkon.

Heute Abend heißt das Motto: Maskerade. Ich habe keine Lust, mir eine Maske im Geschäft zu kaufen. Ich lege daher meine medizinische Maske in Regenbogenfarbe an. Sehr schön ist die Dekoration in den Blumenarrangement.



Tonight the motto is: masquerade. I feel like I need to buy a mask in the store. I, therefore, put on my rainbow-colored medical mask. Very nice is the decoration in the flower arrangement.

We'll see what's available for dinner at the Lido in the evening. What is striking in contrast to the QUEEN MARY 2 (1 star more!): there is nothing special about the standard offer: e.g., Crêpe Suzette freshly flambéed.



Wir gehen kurz gucken, was es abends im Lido zu essen gibt. Was im Gegensatz zur QUEEN MARY 2 (1 Stern mehr!) auffällt: es gibt nichts Besonderes über das normale Angebot: z. B. Crêpe Suzette frisch flambiert.

Zum Galaabend gibt es Live-Musik im Britannia-Restaurant. Es gibt Ziegenkäse als Vorspeise und als Hauptspeise. Wer stellt das Angebot zusammen? Fällt es eigentlich keinem auf?



There will be live music in the Britannia restaurant for the gala evening. There is goat cheese as a starter and as a main course. Who compiles the offer? Doesn't anyone really notice it?

"One Way or Another" is the show's name and a song by Blondie. So this is probably a show to my taste — a perfect end to the day. In the end, there is a selfie with two of the cast and with Entertainment Director Ashley.
