Formeller Abend. Die meisten halten sich daran und so macht es Spaß.



Formal night. Most of the guests respected it and so it was fun for all of us.

Hübsche Tischdekoration.

Der Tisch ist nur für sieben gedeckt. Wir hatten unseren Kellner kurz aufgeklärt, dass Carmen gar nicht an Bord ist. Bevor alle sitzen, lassen wir uns gemeinsam fotografieren.



The table was set for seven only. We informed our watier that Carmen was not onboard. Before everybody sat we asked for a picture of all of us.

They had Surf and Turf. No need to read more and looking forward for the lobster.



Es gibt Surf und Turf. Ich brauche nicht weiter zu lesen und freue mich auf den Hummer.

Das Baguette hier ist nicht so lecker wie im The Verandah.



The baguette bread was not as nice as in The Verandah.

The terrine was very very nice.



Die Terrine ist ganz gut.

Ungewöhnlich: ein Pfefferstreuer und keine Pfeffermühle - geschweige vom Pfeffermühlenservice.



Strange: a pepper shaker and no pepper mill- and no pepper mill service either.

The Spanish croquettes were very nice.



Die spanischen Kroketten waren sehr lecker.

Meine kalte Suppe lasse ich mir mit dem Salat kommen, weil wir in der 1. Tischzeit sitzen und unsere Kellner extrem unter Zeitdruck stehen. Zur Verstärkung wird eine weitere Kellnerin unserer Station zugeteilt.



I asked to serve my chilled soup with my salad as we we had the 1st sitting and our waiters were under time pressure. To improve the service they added one more waitress to our station.

The Blue-Cheese-Dressing came separately.



Der Blue-Cheese-Dressing wird nachträglich serviert.

Schade, dass es keine schwarzen Servietten für schwarze Hosen gab. Gibt es ja sogar bei NCL.



It was a shame that there were no black napkings for black pants. You even have this with NCL.

No idea why: but we did not get our beverages in cans anymore.



Keine Ahnung: wir bekommen unsere Getränke nicht mehr in Dosen.

Drei Shrimps statt Hummer? Und so ein Mini-Filet Mignon? Ich hatte bestimmt keine Ladies' Cut bestellt. Wo ist mein Hummer??? Fahren wir wirklich mit Cunard?



Three shrimps instead of a lobster? And such a mini filet mignon? I did not ordered a Ladies's Cut. Where is my lobster??? Are we really going on Cunard?

Later we had also the sauces.



Nachträglich kommen die Saucen.

Es gibt entweder Meerrettich oder Sauce Bearnaise.



You had the choice between horse raddish or sauce bearnaise.

It was nice but somehow I was not full nor convinced that we were really going on Cunard.



Es war zwar lecker, aber irgendwie bin ich weder richtig satt noch überzeugt, dass ich mit Cunard fahre.

Bruno nimmt die Profiteroles, die ich sonst immer nur im McCafé nehme. Es ist so gut: Bruno schwärmt davon und ich bekomme keinen Bissen zum Probieren.



Bruno took the profiteroles which I only knew from McDonald's McCafé (Coffee and cake corner within McDonald's in Germany). But it must have been very good: Bruno spoke well and I did not get one bite to try.

But my dessert was not bad at all.



Mein Nachtisch war auch nicht schlecht.

Wir nehmen wieder ein paar Petit Fours, die es eben bei fast allen anderen nicht mehr gibt.



We took again few Petit Fours which we do not get with others mostly.

Tonight the Maître spent the effort and to come and see us - even it was only to tell us that we should leave as he need the table. I only by now: Only 2nd sitting and only a small table. Then you can maybe survive a cruise with traditional dining as a freestyle fan.



Heute abend macht sich der Maître doch mal die Mühe an unserem Tisch vorbeizukommen, wenn auch nur zu dem Zweck uns mitzuteilen, dass wir bitte gehen sollten, weil er den Tisch braucht. Für mich steht fest: 2. Tischzeit und nur noch einen kleinen Tisch. Dann kann man u. U. auch mit fester Tischzeit als Freestyle-Fan überleben.

Das waren unsere Kellner. Nur ich kenne deren Namen nicht. Das hatte folgende Gründe: Es war wirklich ein Express-Service, weil keine Zeit war, auch mal ein privates Wort zu wechseln. Ein paar Floskeln wurden ausgetauscht, aber nicht in dem Umfang, wie wir es von NCL kennen. Und ein weiterer Grund: die kleine Schrift mit den Serifen und die extrem schnelle Bewegungen: ich hatte kaum eine Chance gehabt, die Namen in Ruhe zu erfassen. Auf jeden Fall kam unser Hauptkellner aus Ungarn und sein Name fing mit A. an. Er war überrascht, als er mitbekam, dass wir bereits alle in Hamburg ausschiffen. Deswegen lagen keine unterschriebenen Speisekarten für uns zum Abschied bereit. Wir waren trotzdem vorbereitet und hatten den Kellnern noch ein Dollar zugesteckt. Die Speisekarten bekomme ich am nächsten Morgen zum Frühstück nachgereicht.



They were our waiters. But I could not remember their names. That had following reasons: It was really an Express-Service and there was no time to share any personal words. Few standard prases but not as much as we knew from NCL. And another reason: the small script with serifs and their fast movements made it impossible for me to read their names. Our Main Waiter was Hungarian and his name started with an A. He was surprised to learn that we all should debark in Hamburg. So there were no signed menu cards ready for us. But we were ready for them and tipped them additionally. The menu cards I got the next morning.

Hans-Hermann placed Tinamama and Tinapapa in the best light.



Hans-Hermann bringt noch Tinamama und Tinapapa ins rechte Licht.

Ich hatte das an Hans-Hermann weiterdelegiert, weil es bei mir eher Zufallstreffer sind. Er ist ja nun Profi und achtet wirklich auf Details und scheut sich nicht andere Leute im Hintergrund zu verscheuchen.



I delegated this job to Hans-Hermann because it is more accidentially if I make a good shot. He is a professional and checked really every little detail and he had problem to send others in the background away.

It was really fun to observe him.



Es hatte wirklich Spaß gemacht, ihm zuzusehen.

Er selbst hatte aber auch die Bitte, dass wir ihn wie Napoleon Bonaparte am Globus fotografieren.



He requested for himself that we should take a picture of him like Napoleon Bonaparte at the globe.

That was my box which I booked.



Da ist meine Loge, die ICH gebucht habe.

Ich hätte gerne die 50,00 USD bezahlt. Meine Loge!!! (Falls Sie das Bild sehen: Sie können ja nichts für, aber Sie sitzen trotzdem in MEINER Loge!).

I was surprised how empty the theater was.



Ich war überrascht, wie leer das Theater eigentlich war.

Es gab wieder einige Beatles-Imitatoren. Anfangs gab es Probleme mit dem Ton, aber nach dem alle Regel aufgedreht waren, ging es.



Again few Beatles-Imitators. In the beginning there were minor problems with the sound but once everything was switched on it was o.k..

I wanted to leave at the beginning as I had the impression that they only played the red album but then also few tracks from the blue album followed.



Anfangs wollte ich schon gehen, weil ich den Eindruck hatte, dass nur das rote Album abgespielt wird, aber zum Glück wurden auch Titel aus dem blauen Album abgespielt.

Ich habe 7 Titel als iTune auf mein iPhone geladen. Halt meine Lieblingstitel. 4 von denen wurden gespielt: All My Loving, Let It Be, I Need You und Yesterday.

Personally I was missing: The Long and Widing Road; Here, There and Everywhere; Nowhere Man.

Der Ära-Wechsel wurde durch Wechsel der Kleidung signalisiert.



The change of era was shown by the change of clothes.

With few songs the audience should sing with them.



Bei manchen Stücken sollte das Publikum mitsingen.

Manchmal gelang es sogar.



With very few occassions it worked.





With Let It Be they switched on the light in the audience.



Bei Let It Be wird das Licht im Saal eingeschaltet.

Und dann konnte man doch sehen, dass manche mitmachten und die Arme schwenkten.



But then you could see that some were joining and swinging their arms.

And I got the impression the older the more.



Und dabei hatte ich den Eindruck: je oller desto doller.

Hans-Hermann schläft nicht, sondern singt hier voller Inbrunst mit.



Hans-Hermann was not sleeping but singing with a lot of passion.





What was sorry: with the additional songs I could stay in my seats any longer and jump on and danced. But I was the only one.



Was denn schade war: bei den Zugaben hält mich nichts mehr auf den Sitz und ich stehe auf und tanze mit. Aber leider bin ich der Einzige.
