Seetag/Day at Sea 5 on QUEEN ELIZABETH statt/instead of Ajaccio, France

Zunächst geht es zum Frühstück. Die Nussschleifen sind sehr lecker.



First, we go to breakfast. The nut loops are delicious.





A private tour was planned in Ajaccio for today, but the call was canceled because the port was canceled due to weather. We notice it here on board. Later in the afternoon, it was excellent again. We booked the tour with Guides de France. They are so kind and reimburse us for the costs. We also had tickets for the Le Petit train, but they have yet to respond. We'll be here again in September 2024 on AZAMARA QUEST. They get to hear something from me. My French could be better, but it's enough for swearing.



Für heute war eine private Tour in Ajaccio geplant, aber der Anlauf wurde abgesagt, weil der Hafen wetterbedingt abgesagt wurde. Wir merken es hier an Bord. Am späteren Nachmittag ist es aber wieder schön. Wir hatten die Tour bei Guides de France gebucht. Die sind so nett und erstatten uns die Kosten. Außerdem hatten wir auch Tickets für Le petit train, aber die antworten überhaupt nicht. Wir sind ja wieder im September 2024 mit der AZAMARA QUEST hier. Die bekommen von mir etwas zu hören. Mein Französisch ist zwar nicht besonders gut, aber zum Fluchen reicht es.

Wir nutzen den zusätzlichen Seetag zur Entspannung und zum Shoppen. Neue Poloshirts, eine neue wasserfeste Tasche, da die, die ich auf der VALIANT LADY 2022 gekauft habe, doch sehr klein ist. Und Bruno bekommt seine neue Tasse. Seine große Tasse von der DISNEY DREAM 2015 bleicht jetzt doch langsam aus. Es läuft so wie in einem Möbelgeschäft in Deutschland, wenn die Mehrwertsteuer geschenkt wird: es wird so viel Rabatt gegeben, dass wir den alten Nettopreis ohne spanische Mehrwertsteuer zahlen müssen. Für unsere Club World Mitgliedschaft gibt es keinen Rabatt.



We use the additional day at sea to relax and shop. I got new polo shirts and a new waterproof bag since the one I bought on VALIANT LADY 2022 is very small. And Bruno gets his new cup. His large cup from DISNEY DREAM 2015 is now slowly fading. It's like in a furniture store in Germany when the VAT is free: so much discount is given that we have to pay the old net price without Spanish VAT. There is no discount for our Club World membership.









If it weren't so early, I would participate in the morning exercise on the chair. But now I'm full and can't take part now.



Wenn es nicht so früh wäre, würde ich mich ja an dem Frühsport auf dem Stuhl beteiligen. Aber jetzt bin ich satt und könnte jetzt nicht mitmachen.



We recently traveled with three other ships of the Spirit class: QUEEN VICTORIA 2022, OOSTERDAM 2023 and CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023: we know the quirks of the air conditioning: it does not mix warm and cold air, but alternately cold and warm air is added into the air conditioning cabin piped to maintain the temperature in the stateroom. It only becomes unpleasant if you sleep directly under the air conditioning: you sweat and freeze alternately. But we always have adhesive tape to cover some of the nozzles and redirect the air.



Wir sind ja zuletzt mit drei weiteren Schiffen der Spirit-Klasse unterwegs gewesen: QUEEN VICTORIA 2022, OOSTERDAM 2023 und CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023: die Marotten der Klimaanlage kennen wir: sie kein nämlich keine warme und kalte Luft mischen, sondern es wird abwechselnd kalte und warme Luft in die Kabine geleitet, um die Temperatur in der Kabine zu halten. Unangenehm wird es nur dann, wenn man direkt unter der Klimaanlage schläft: man schwitzt und friert abwechselnd. Aber wir haben ja immer unser Klebeband mit, um ein Teil der Düsen abzukleben und die Luft umzuleiten.





Mit dem Mittagessen habe ich Pech: ich wollte bloß ein halbes Steak-Sandwich... und sie haben es so unglücklich geschnitten: ohne Fleisch. Ich hätte lieber die andere Hälfte gehabt... ob ich danach fragen kann, wo sie ist???

Bar Supervisor Brandon kennen wir von sehr vielen Cunard-Reisen. Es gibt laktosefreie Milch von der Metro? Ich habe Glück: irrtümlich sage ich, dass ich ein Frappucino will und ich bekomme einen, obwohl der gar nicht auf der Karte steht. Ich bin überglücklich. Da ich ja nicht sattgeworden bin, nehme ich noch ein Thunfischsandwich. Später gibt es noch einen frisch gebrühten Eistee.



We know bar supervisor Brandon from many Cunard trips. Is there lactose-free milk from Metro (a German cash + carry)? I'm lucky: I mistakenly say I want a Frappucino, and I get one even though it's not on the menu. I'm so happy. Since I'm not full, I have another tuna fish sandwich. Later, there will be freshly brewed iced tea.

The additional day at sea enables another concert with Martin Vishnik. He plays a lot of pop songs. I have many of them as originals on my iPhone. I like his version of "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield.



Der zusätzliche Seetag ermöglicht ein weiteres Konzert mit Martin Vishnik. Er spiel viele Popsongs. Viele habe ich als Original auf meinem iPhone. Mir gefällt seine Version von "The Look of Love" von Dusty Springfield sehr gut.

Fast nahtlos geht es über zur Tea-Time. Einmal muss es sein.

At some point, I discovered the burger and hot dog corner. Now I can't, but I have to try that too.



Irgendwann entdecke ich die Burger und HotDog-Ecke. Jetzt kann ich nicht, aber das muss ich auch noch probieren.

Ich gehe zum LGQBTI+-Treffen. Es war eigentlich noch lieber als es das "Friends of Dorothy"-Treffen war. Es ist so lesbisch dominiert, dass kaum noch Gays auftauchen. Ich nehme einen tollen alkoholfreien Cocktail: Coastal Collins, den heute ein anderer Sommelier mir empfohlen hat. Wir sind beim Mittagessen ins Gespräch gekommen, weil er mich darauf hingewiesen hat, dass mein Heißgetränke-Sticker nicht für Cola gilt. Ich hatte ihm darauf hin gesagt, dass er bitte die Cola in die Mikrowelle stellen soll und anschließend mir mit Eiswürfel das servieren soll. Erst war er einen Moment sprachlos, aber dann hat er laut gelacht. Wir sind so ein wenig ins Gespräch gekommen, und er hatte mir noch Tips für leckere Cocktails ohne Alkohol gegeben. Schade, dass ich ihn nicht wieder getroffen habe, um noch ein Selfie mit ihm zu machen. Bisher hatte das Schiff die 100% Quote mit der tollen Crew erreicht. Nun waren es doch 99,99% und ich habe die 0,01% erwischt. Normalerweise würde ich an dieser Stelle den Bar Manager rufen, aber ich bin in so guter Stimmung, dass ich ausnahmsweise selbst zur Bar laufe. Das habe ich auf der CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023 nicht gemacht. Da wurden die Bar Managerin und ich die "besten" Freunde. Wenn ich schon Service-Charges obligatorisch zahlen soll, muss ich ja nicht auch noch mich selbst bedienen!



I'm going to the LGQBTI+ meeting. It was actually even better when it was the "Friends of Dorothy" meeting. It is so lesbian-dominated that gays hardly show up anymore. I have a tremendous non-alcoholic cocktail: Coastal Collins, another sommelier recommended today. We started talking at lunch because he pointed out that my hot drinks sticker doesn't apply to cola. I then told him to please put the cola in the microwave and then serve it to me with ice cubes. At first, he was momentarily speechless, but then he laughed out loud. We chatted a bit, and he gave me tips for delicious cocktails without alcohol. It's a shame I didn't meet him again to take another selfie with him. So far, the ship has achieved the 100% quota with a great crew. Well, it was 99.99%, and I picked the 0.01%. Usually, I would call the bar manager at this point, but I'm in such a good mood that, for once, I run to the bar myself. I didn't do that on CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023. That's when the bar manager and I became "best" friends. If I have to pay mandatory service charges, I don't have to serve myself too!



Leider gibt es auf der Reise keinen richtig schönen Sonnenuntergang. Ein paar Millimeter am Horizont fehlen für den perfekten Sonnenuntergang.



Unfortunately, there is no gorgeous sunset on the trip. A few lines on the horizon are missing for the perfect sunset.

I have another problem: too much good music is being offered simultaneously. I like many things, but unfortunately, I can't share myself and be everywhere simultaneously.



Ich habe ein weiteres Problem an Bord: zu viel gute Musik wird gleichzeitig angeboten. Mir gefällt vieles, aber ich kann mich leider nicht teilen und überall gleichzeitig sein.

However, we go to the separate section with table service where the pop-up offers are available. Tonight, it's Riviera's turn - the Mediterranean food offering. I am greeted by Marianne, who runs the restaurant. She says she is delighted that she and her team also have the opportunity to extend their hospitality to us. I have already met Nitin and am thrilled he is serving us this evening. He greeted me beforehand and asked how I was feeling after the surgery. I was surprised. He helped us fill our mug a little easier: at a bar. As on QUEEN VICTORIA 2022, we invite Nenad to eat together again. We talk about God and the world as we did back then. We had a lot of fun together back then, and we're having it again tonight. I'm currently thinking about whether I shouldn't pass Bruno off to Nenad: both are probably advocates of natural remedies, including oregano oil, which has found its way into his life since our trip on NORWEGIAN SUN 2012 and which I hate! It stinks! And when he ingests it, he smells like a marinated roast! I am completely ignored as they compete to see who uses what resources. I enjoy the best saltimbocca I have had so far in my life. I've never eaten it from a veal chop before. That was a dream: the food, the service, the team, and the evening with Nenad. Now, I want to try La Piazza. This would be the first time we've managed that, even though we've traveled with Cunard many times. And I would like to enjoy Nordlys on QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 again.



Wir gehen jedoch in den abgetrennten Teil mit Tischservice, in dem es die Pop-Up-Angebote gibt. Heute Abend ist Riviera dran - das mediterrane Essensangebot. Ich werde von Marianne begrüßt, die das Restarant führt. Sie sagt, dass sie sich sehr darüber freut, dass sie und ihr Team auch Gelegenheit haben, uns ihre Gastfreundschaft zukommen zu lassen. Nitin bin ich ja schon begegnet und hierüber freue ich mich sehr, dass er uns heute Abend bedient. Er hat mich zuvor begrüßt und gefragt, wie es mir nach der OP geht. Ich war überrascht. Er hat uns geholfen, unseren Krug etwas einfacher zu füllen: an einer Bar. Wie schon auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 laden wir wieder Nenad zum gemeinsamen Essen an. Wir reden wie damals über Gott und die Welt. Wir hatten damals sehr viel Spaß zusammen und heute Abend haben wir es wieder. Ich überlege mir gerade, ob ich nicht Bruno an Nenad abschieben sollte: beide sind wohl Verfechter von Naturheilmittel inkl. Oreganoöl, das seit unserer Reise auf der NORWEGIAN SUN 2012 in sein Leben eingezogen ist und das ich hasse! Es stinkt! Und wenn er es eingenommen hat, dann stinkt er wie ein marinierter Braten! Ich werde komplett ignoriert, als beide sich einen Wettbewerb liefern, wer welche Mittel für was nutzt. Ich genieße das beste Saltimbocca, das ich bisher in meinem Leben bekommen habe. Aus einem Kalbskotelett habe ich es bisher noch nie gegessen. Das war ein Traum: das Essen, der Service, das Team und der Abend mit Nenad. Nun will ich unbedingt La Piazza probieren. Das haben wir bislang noch nie geschafft, obwohl wir schon so oft mit Cunard unterwegs waren. Und Nordlys auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 würde ich gerne auch mal wieder genießen.
