Seetag/Day at Sea 2 auf der/on QUEEN ELIZABETH

Obwohl wir schon drei Mal zuvor hier an Bord waren: QUEEN ELIZABETH 2017 (1), QUEEN ELIZABETH 2017 (2) und QUEEN ELIZABETH 2019: Für mich es immer wieder spannend ein Schiff "erneut" zu entdecken. Egal, wie oft man schon zuvor hier war. Zunächst geht es in den Yacht Club.

I look around the Lido. But everything is still closed. But I see the milk alternatives. And they have an extra toaster just for gluten-free bread.



Ich gucke mich im Lido um. Aber es hat noch nichts offen. Ich sehe aber die Milchalternativen. Und sie haben einen extra Toaster nur für glutenfreies Brot.

I see a Bansky in the art gallery, and water is coming from the ceiling. This can happen on a ship that is already 16 years old. But nothing more can be seen until the following day.



In der Kunstgalerie sehe ich einen Bansky und Wasser kommt von der Decke. Das darf bei einem Schiff passieren, das schon 16 Jahre alt ist. Bis zum nächsten Morgen ist aber nichts mehr zu sehen.





Im Queens Room ist es wie immer. Mittags habe ich Pech: ich habe mal wieder nicht ins Programm geschaut und verpasse das Gitarrenkonzert von Martin Vishnik. Als ich vorbeilaufe, spielt der ausgerechnet "Classical Gas" von Mason Williams. Ich liebe das Stück. Abends findet hier der Black and White Ball statt.



It's business as usual in the Queens Room. At lunchtime, I was unlucky: I didn't look at the program again and missed Martin Vishnik's guitar concert. As I walk past, he is playing Mason Williams' "Classical Gas". I love the piece. The Black and White Ball takes place here in the evening.









Due to the late departure and Spanish VAT, the shops were closed the day before.



Aufgrund der späten Abfahrt und der spanischen Mehrwertsteuer, blieben die Geschäfte am Vortag geschlossen.





Eine Aufnahme neben der Queen muss sein. Mehrwürdig die Bordzeit weicht um eine Stunde von der tatsächlichen Zeit ab. Für mich ist das in Ordnung. Eine Reise mit Cunard, ist irgendwie immer auch wie eine Zeitmaschine. Man vergisst die reale Zeit und genießt die Zeit an Bord, und wenn sich hier an Bord die Uhren langsamer drehen und wir mehr Zeit an Bord verbringen: umso besser!



A shot next to the Queen is a must. Unfortunately, the on-board time differs from the actual time by an hour. Fine by me. A trip with Cunard is somehow always like a time machine. You forget about real time and enjoy the time on board, and if the clocks turn slower on board and we spend more time on board: all the better!





Despite Starlinx: sometimes the system stops. And the upload is much worse than the download.

Es geht zum Frühstück ins Britannia-Restaurant. Vom Tablett mit dem Frühstücksgebäck nehme ich ein Croissant. Der Obstteller ist wieder schön eingerichtet. Ich bekomme mein Sonderessen: Congee. Dazu bestelle ich mir noch Eier und Würstchen, die ich hineinschneide.



We go to the Britannia Restaurant for breakfast. I take a croissant from the tray of breakfast pastries. The fruit plate is beautifully decorated again. I got my special meal: congee. I also order eggs and sausages, which I cut into them.

We are sitting in Café Carinthia. In the evening, we meet Isabel and Thierry from France here. I know her from a Facebook forum that I'm no longer on. The administrators' ideas and mine didn't fit together. It happens. I don't have to be active in every Facebook group. Isabel and Thierry are first-timers, so I enjoyed supporting them with some tips beforehand.



Wir sitzen im Café Carinthia. Abends treffen wir hier Isabel und Thierry aus Frankreich. Ich kenne sie aus einem Facebook-Forum, in dem ich zwischenzeitlich nicht mehr bin. Die Vorstellungen der Adminstratoren und meine passten nicht unter eine Decke. Passiert. Ich muss nicht in jeder Facebook-Gruppe aktiv sein. Isabel und Thierry sind Erstfahrer und so hat es mir auch davor Spaß gemacht, sie mit einigen Tipps zu unterstützen.

Ich bekomme meine Sharp Box für meine Spritzen und Nadeln. Die Klimaanlage ist dieselbe, die wir auch von der CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023 kennen. Allerdings: die Extremen zwischen Warm und Kalt sind nicht so schlimm. Es gibt keinen Grund, den Techniker zu rufen. Abkleben reicht. Wir sind ja immer gut vorbereitet. Noch eine Flasche Sekt (vom World Club): wir sind ja nur sieben Nächte an Bord... Zum Glück sind wir mit dem Auto da und können alles mitnehmen.



I get my Sharp Box for my syringes and needles. The air conditioning is the same as we know from CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023. However, the extremes between warm and cold are acceptable. There is no reason to call the technician. Masking is enough. We are always well prepared. Another bottle of champagne (from World Club): we're only on board for seven nights... Luckily we're there by car and can take everything with us.

As usual with Cunard, laundry is part of the daily entertainment. It's free. They have renewed the machines, but some are not working again. There are now new detergent wipes that we always take with us when we travel. We always have some in the frame: Universal and Color.



Wie bei Cunard üblich: Waschen ist Teil der täglichen Unterhaltung an Bord. Es ist kostenlos. Sie haben zwar die Maschinen erneuert, aber ein Teil funktioniert wieder nicht. Es gibt jetzt neu die Waschmitteltücher, die wir auch immer auf den Reisen mitführen. Wir haben immer welche in der Fassung: Universal und Color.





Ich bin erstaunt, was wieder der Florist gezaubert hat.

With Leah, we booked our first trips on the QUEEN ANNE: 810 days until 2026 - Hamburg - Rotterdam - Zeebrugge - Southampton. We had discovered a short trip on the QUEEN VICTORIA for 2024, but we learned that since we are currently on a USD cruise, transfers to travel agencies are impossible if we want the EUR prices. Nevertheless, we book here because we can still cancel free of charge. My vacation for 2024 has yet to be approved.



Bei Leah buchen wir unsere ersten Reisen auf der QUEEN ANNE: 810 Tage bis 2026 - Hamburg - Rotterdam - Zeebrugge - Southampton. Wir hatten noch für 2024 noch eine kurze Reise auf der QUEEN VICTORIA entdeckt, aber da lernen wir: da wir gerade auf einer USD-Kreuzfahrt unterwegs sind, sind Übertragungen auf Reisebüros nicht möglich, wenn wir die EUR-Preise wollen. Dennoch buchen wir hier, weil wir noch kostenlos stornieren können. Mein Urlaub für 2024 ist nämlich noch nicht genehmigt.



Maître D'Hotel Anand recognizes me from previous trips — a few personal words. And so I am happy about my good reputation as a passenger. I ordered a Virgin Mary. In contrast to CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023, it will be freshly created - not a ready mix. I can determine the sharpness myself. It's a bit too spicy for me. Spanish VAT applies to the net price. We are on an intra-community cruise leaving in Spain. Lunch is again delicious. And there are even toothpicks. We haven't been able to get them from others lately.



Maître D'Hotel Anand erkennt mich von früheren Reisen. Ein paar persönliche Worte. Und so freue ich mich über meinen guten Ruf als Passagier. Ich bestelle einen Virgin Mary. Im Gegensatz zur CARNIVAL PRIDE 2023 wird der frisch erstellt - kein Ready Mix. Ich kann die Schärfe selbst bestimmen. Mir ist er einen Tick zu scharf. Die spanische Mehrwertsteuer fällt auf den Nettopreis an. Wir sind ja auf einer innergemeinschaftlichen Kreuzfahrt mit Ausgang in Spanien. Der Lunch ist wieder sehr lecker. Und es gibt sogar Zahnstocher. Die haben wir zuletzt bei anderen nicht mehr bekommen.

Da ich immer noch an den Folgen von Long-Covid-19 und meiner OP leide, schlafe ich ein wenig. Bruno bringt mir etwas von der Tea-Time aus dem Lido-Restaurant mit. Es wird mir allerdings nicht stilgerecht serviert: die weißen Handschuhe fehlen.

We briefly went to the Commodore Club and stopped by the Friends of Dorothy meeting. The backpack vacuum cleaner would be the right gift for Bruno for next Valentine's Day. Here, we meet Richard again, who also recognizes Bruno. I like the music of the Ocean Drive Duo. Only then do I realize we are generations apart: their piece and mine no longer fit together. You cannot fulfill my requested titles.



Wir gehen kurz in den Commodore Club und gucken beim Friends-of-Dorothy-Treffen vorbei. Der Rucksack-Staubsauger wäre doch das passende Geschenk für Bruno zum nächsten Valentinstag. Hier treffen wir auf Richard wieder, der auch Bruno wieder erkennt. Die Musik des Ocean Drive Duos gefällt mir gut. Nur da merke ich, dass wir Generationen auseinander liegen: ihre Musik und meine Musik passen nicht mehr zusammen. Sie können meine Wunschtitel nicht erfüllen.

Es geht heute wieder ins Britannia-Restaurant. Wir sind wieder bei Joel und JB zugeteilt. Es gibt sogar schwarze Servietten. Eine weiß und eine schwarz: also passend zum Motto des Abends. So kann ich mich auch bei Tristan bedanken, dass es mit dem Congee geklappt hat.
