Seetag/Day at Sea 7 auf der/on QUEEN VICTORIA

Nach 17 Jahren bekommen wir ein neues Thermostat und seitdem läuft es absolut super. Wir können unsere Konstruktion über unserem Bett entfernen. Die Luft kommt gleichmäßiger raus und ändert sich nicht so stark zwischen heiß und kalt. Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass wir jetzt bei der QUEEN ANNE im Januar das noch nicht anfragen müssen, aber später.



After 17 years, we got a new thermostat, and it's been working perfectly ever since. We can remove the contraption above our bed. The air comes out more evenly and doesn't fluctuate so drastically between hot and cold. I assume we won't need to ask about it for the QUEEN ANNE in January, but we will later.

My next project: a shower hose. Unfortunately, I don't have calipers with me, so I'll have to use my soap to measure the thread size. I think fixed shower heads are outdated.



Mein nächstes Projekt: ein Duschschlauch. Leider habe ich keine Schieblehre mit, sodass ich mit Hilfe meiner Seifen die Größe des Gewindes festzuhalten habe. Ich halte den festen Duschkopf für nicht mehr zeitgemäß.

Es geht noch einmal zum Frühstück mit Congee. Morgen tue ich das denen nicht an. Wir müssen früh von Bord gehen. Es gibt wieder einen Softroll. Damals auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2008 hatte ich das zum ersten Mal.



We're going back for one last breakfast with congee. I'm not doing that to them tomorrow. We have to disembark early. There's another soft roll. I first had that on QUEEN VICTORIA 2008.

Here in the Chart Room, we soon have to say goodbye again: Marcelo, Gabriel, Vishal, I Gusti, Kaushik, Alvin, and Savio. They knew our preferences. No long discussions. Should we buy any souvenirs? For whom?



Auch hier im Chart Room müssen wir bald wieder Abschied nehmen: Marcelo, Gabriel, Vishal, I Gusti, Kaushik, Alvin, Savio. Die kannten unsere Präferenzen. Keine langen Diskussionen. Sollen wir noch Souvenirs kaufen? Für wen?

Im SB-Waschsalon ist wieder alles voll. Es geht hier zu, wie im Taubenschlag. So muss man zu Hause nicht mehr waschen. Sie haben jetzt auch die Waschmitteltücher. Wir brauchen sie zu Hause auf. Auf den letzten Kreuzfahrten haben wir nicht mehr selbst gewaschen. Das war uns immer zu voll.



The self-service laundromat is packed again. It's like a beehive in here. We don't have to do our laundry at home anymore. They even have laundry sheets now. We'll use them up at home. We didn't do our own laundry on our last few cruises. It was always too crowded.

The library is still just as beautiful as it was when we first came on board.



Die Bibliothek ist immer noch genauso schön wie damals, als wir zum ersten Mal an Bord waren.

Das Schwesterschiff QUEEN ELIZABETH feiert heute Geburtstag. Wenn ich das vorher gewusst hätte, hätte ich heute meine 125. Kreuzfahrt gefeiert und dem Konditor einfach gesagt, dass er eine Fußnote für mich hätte setzen können.



The sister ship QUEEN ELIZABETH is celebrating its birthday today. If I had known that beforehand, I would have celebrated my 125th cruise today and simply told the pastry chef he could add a footnote for me.

I wanted to buy some over-the-counter cold medicine, but everything was sold out. So apparently, we weren't the only ones who caught a cold on board. Luckily, we had everything we needed with us.



Ich wollte noch ein paar Over-the-Counter-Medikamente gegen Erkältung kaufen, aber alles ist ausverkauft. Also waren wir anscheinend nicht die einzigen, die sich an Bord erkältet haben. Zum Glück hatten wir aber alles dabei.

Das Wetter lädt nicht unbedingt dazu ein, dass man sich draußen am Pool ausbreitet.

Noch einmal zum Mittagessen. Das war heute richtig lecker. Ich hatte schon Schwierigkeiten, mich zu entscheiden.



One more time for lunch. It was really delicious today. I had trouble deciding.

We meet Philipp and Stefan for tea. Mark happens to be serving us. Unfortunately, the music is much too loud. So we'll soon head to the Chart Room for our conversation, where it's quieter.



Wir treffen uns mit Philipp und Stefan zur Tea-Time. Zufällig bedient uns Mark. Die Musik ist leider viel zu laut. So verschwinden wir bald, um uns im Chart Room mit mehr Ruhe zu unterhalten.

Ich gehe nochmals in den Commodore Club und verabschiede mich von den anderen. Wir wären gerne öfter gekommen, aber es gibt einfach nicht.

Ich wollte noch ein Bild vom tollen Team von The Verandah. Ich hatte das Problem, dass ich gar nicht identifizieren konnte, wer unser Kellner eigentlich war. Warren hat ein Team gebildet: Jeder fühlte sich für einen Gast zuständig. Zufällig ist F&B Manager Dinesh da und so kann ich das erwähnen, welche Teams uns wirklich sehr gut bedient haben. In The Verandah sind es Dexter, Shepherd, Adrian, Nicky, Macdonald, Anthony und Jaime.



I wanted to take a picture of the amazing team at The Verandah. I had trouble identifying who our waiter actually was. Warren had organized a team: each waiter felt responsible for a specific guest. As luck would have it, F&B Manager Dinesh was there, so I can mention which teams provided us with such excellent service. At The Verandah, they were Dexter, Shepherd, Adrian, Nicky, Macdonald, Anthony, and Jaime.

Last dinner: No flambé tonight. I probably shouldn't order the à la carte steak either. Apparently, there have been quite a few returns. But the à la carte steak from the Britannia restaurant menu isn't really my thing either. It doesn't matter anyway, since I've eaten enough this week.



Das letzte Abendessen: Ein Flambé gibt es heute Abend nicht mehr. Auch das à-la-carte-Steak sollte ich besser nicht mehr nehmen. Da gab es wohl schon einige Retouren. Aber das à-la-carte Steak aus der Britannia-Restaurant-Karte ist auch nicht so meins. Es spielt eh keine Rolle mehr, da ich die Woche genug gegessen habe.

Audley Anderson ist der heutige Gaststar. Wir treffen uns mit Philipp und Stefan, um gemeinsam die Show anzusehen. Auf "Be Our Guest" haben wir dieses Mal verzichtet. Sorry, aber ich kann diese Show nicht mehr sehen.
