Somehow all of us were not really awake: I wanted actually "to go" and I got in a China cup. But I wanted to have decaf lactose-free cappucino with my breakfast. To avoid that I need to carry my cappucino by myself Raj got the order to carry my cappucino. I felt like a guest in a Royal Suite. The other guests were looking quite irritated when we met some and the way they looked made fun to us. When we arrived downstairs with the Briannia Restaurant I found out: I was not awake myself properly either - The Britannia Restaurant was not open yet. So we walked all the way back to Sir Samuel's and there I had my cappucino before breakfast.



Irgendwie sind aber alle noch nicht so richtig wach: ich wollte eigentlich "to go" und ich bekomme es in einer Porzellantasse. Nun möchte ich aber meinen entkoffeinierten laktosefreien Cappucino aber beim Frühstück trinken. Damit ich aber nicht selbst meinen Cappucino runtertragen muss, wird Raj beauftragt, mir meinen Cappucino zu tragen. Ich komme mir vor, wie die Bewohner der Royal Suite. Denn die irritierenden Blicke der anderen Gäste, die uns begegnen, machen Spaß. Unten am Britannia Restaurant stelle ich auch fest: auch ich bin noch gar nicht richtig wach - Das Britannia Restaurant hat nämlich noch gar nicht geöffnet. Also laufen wir wieder zurück zu Sir Samuel's und dort trinke ich dann doch meinen Cappucino schon vor dem Frühstück.

Die Cantuccini löse ich kurzerhand im Cappucino auf. So kann ich sie mittrinken.

Wenigstens müssen wir aber nicht wieder als U-Boot fahren, wie damals auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2008.

Somehow the German information came quite late. Other had an a...hole... and I had an A-hole... the t-shirt which I bought on QUANTUM OF THE SEAS 2014 was not manuactured very well so I could place one finger behind the A... During the afternoon the sun came out so you could enjoy some fresh air on your balcony. I had the opinion that they could do something with the furnitures on the balconies. The offers for the airport transfers came. You could not just book a bustransfer but also a private transfer. And transfers to St. Pancras were also offered so we might discuss to use the Eurostar trains towards Paris and Brussels in the future. My Douglas Ward was returned but with a personal note like I had on DISNEY DREAM 2014. I was really disappointed.



Irgendwie kommen die deutschen Informationen immer recht spät. Andere haben ein A....loch und ich habe ein A-Loch... Das T-Shirt, das ich auf der QUANTUM OF THE SEAS 2014 gekauft habe, ist leider auch nicht so gut verarbeitet, so dass ich schon einen Finger hinter das A stecken kann... Im Laufe des Nachmittags kommt jedoch auch mal die Sonne raus, so dass man zumindest auf den Balkon ein bisschen frische Luft schnappen kann. Ich bin schon der Meinung, dass sie mal bei den Balkonmöbeln etwas tun könnten. Die Angebote für die Flughafentransfers kommen. Man kann also nicht nur einen Bustransfer buchen, sondern auch einen Privattransfer. Und Transfers nach St. Pancras sind ebenfalls im Programm, so dass wir auch mal die Nutzung der Eurostar Züge Richtung Brüssel und Paris in Erwägung ziehen könnten. Mein Douglas Ward kommt zurück, aber ohne persönliche Nachricht, wie auf der DISNEY DREAM 2014. Ich bin zutiefst enttäuscht!

Und die nächste Zeitzone muss auf Recife umgestellt werden.

After the treatment of the Chiropratical I saw the access to the Thermal Suite. So I learned that I might used it the whole day for free the day before and that day it was too late. They sold day- and all-voyage-passes. I was allowed to use it that day. I was fascinated by the Herbal Sauna which was moistored automatically (not always since I pipe was not working) and also very nice a feet tub with bubbles from the bottom. You must only find the right bottoms. You could come "naked" in theory - but only in theory: everything was available and they had a poolboy who placed your bathing suit in a drainer. I played myself pool boy.



Nach der Behandlung durch die Chiropraktikerin sah ich gestern den Zugang zur Thermal Suite. Dabei erfahre ich, dass ich gestern hätte den ganzen Tag das kostenlos nutzen dürfen und heute ist es schon reichlich spät. Es werden auch Tages- und Gesamtreise-Pässe verkauft. Ich darf aber heute dafür das nutzen. Mich fasziniert die Herbal Sauna, die automatisch aufgegossen wird (aber nicht immer, weil ein Schlauch wohl defekt ist) und auch ganz toll ist das Fußbad mit Sprudel von unten. Man muss nur schaffen, die richtigen Knöpfe zu bedienen. Man kann theoretisch "nackt" kommen - nur theoretisch: alles ist vorhanden, und es gibt sogar einen Poolboy, der einem die nasse Badebekleidung in die Schleuder legt. Ich spiele jedoch meinen eigenen Poolboy.

Da mich einiges langsam ärgert: vor allem der Internet-Manager habe ich um einen Termin beim Hoteldirektor gebeten. Eine Nachricht liegt vor: der Hoteldirektor empfängt mich nicht, aber jemand von der Rezeption.



As slowly I became upset: especially because of the Internet-Manager I asked for an appointment with the Hotel Director. A message arrived: no meeting with the Hotel Director but someone from the Purser's Office.

When I arrived at the Purser's Office I was told that he was busy and I let them know that I would go upstairs and wait at Sir Samuel's for him. I did not have the intention to queue up and to wait. I ordered myself a chilled coffee beverage.



Als ich an die Rezeption komme, ist er beschäftigt und kurzerhand lasse ich ausrichten, dass ich oben bei Sir Samuel's auf ihn warte. Ich habe nicht die Absicht mich anzustellen und zu warten. Ich bestelle mir eines der Kaffee-Kalt-Getränke.

Meine Coffee Card wird anerkannt, allerdings nur wenn ich keinen Sirup dazu nehme. Das Gespräch verläuft sehr unerfreulich. Es ist kein einfacher Angestellter des Zahlmeisterbüros (Es ist ja keine Rezeption sondern Purser's Office) aber auch nicht der Zahlmeister selbst. Wie ich richtig vermutet habe: er kann und vor allem mein Eindruck er will mich nicht verstehen. Ansonsten werden nicht die Ursachen eines Problems beseitigt (Dazu hätten wir in einem Haushaltswarenladen in Reykjavik oder Punto Delgada schnell halten müssen), sondern nur wieder mal an den Folgen. Übrigens bei so einer Situation bei anderen Gesellschaften, wäre der Kaffee übernommen worden... Für den Preis eines Kaffees lässt sich oft einen Gast beruhigen, wenn man ihm in einer ruhigen Atmosphäre nur zuhört... Aber wir sind ja bei Cunard... Hier zahlt der Gast den Kaffee selbst.



My CoffeeCard would be accepted if I I would not take some syrup. The talk was not very pleasureable. He was no simple agent of the Purser's Office but not the Purser himself. As I suggested correctly: he cannot understand and especially he would not understand me. Otherwise they did not handle the cause of the problems (For that we need to stop quickly with an household goods shop in Reykjavik, Iceland or Punto Delgado, Azores, Portugal) but they worked only on the consequences. By the way when you had same situation with other companies they would cover the coffee... For the price of a coffee you could calm down guests when you listen to them in a calm athmosphere... But we were with Cunard... Here the guests pay their coffee themselves.

I walked to see that they had for lunch in the King's Court.

I seriously considered if I should skip the next chapter or not because some might hijack the occasion for his own reason. But why not. It is always quite simple to say something bad very quickly and something good will not brought in the center of attention. Here we need go back on our voyage on QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 2007. Then we were our very first time on a Cunard Ship and did not understood the five different restaurant classes. So were walking in to browse around and they kicked us out (outside the dining hours) but also were escorted. I will never forget the words of the Head Waiter then who said "Maybe you are travelling today in our Mauretania-Class but may I could inspire you to book one day the Princess Class". And indeed we one day we had the occasion to try Princess Grill on QUEEN ELIZABETH 2012 (2nd voyage). So I was familiar you just not walk in but to wait discretely at the entrance until someone shows up and meets. For that reason you had the Maître D' in charge for the Princess Grill. So I told him my observations. So he was so happy to hear and asked whether I would like to eat in the Princess Grill for the dinner. To avoid beeing disinharited I thanked for the kind offer and denied but also asked if I may come back again for lunch. You never misuse shamelessly such a privilege and have your whole family with you. As my parents anyway very early at the buffet I came by myself. So you see it is worth to say LOUD your praise. And each of us should do it on his cruise because the crew works so hard to let us have a good time. And so you could see that you get in the Princess Grill and why you should book it. Apart from the exclusive atmosphere you had a different offer and a different presentation. A chilled soup was really "chill". I really was happy to get the privilege. And especially: that would influence my booking conduct in the next days.



Ich hatte mir ernsthaft überlegt, ob ich diese Passage unerwähnt lasse oder nicht, weil es möglicherweise dazu kommt, dass manche auch für sich das in Anspruch nehmen. Aber warum nicht. Es ist immer einfach sich über negative Sachen schnell zu äußern und Positives wird dann oft unter dem Teppich gekehrt. Hierzu müssen wir zurück auf die QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 2007. Damals waren wir ganz frisch auf unserem ersten Cunard Schiff und kannten die unterschiedlichen fünf Restaurantklassen nicht. So sind wir mal reingegangen zum Gucken und wurden mal hochkantig rausgeworfen (außerhalb der Essenszeiten), aber auch schon rumgeführt. Ich vergesse nie die Worte des Head Waiters damals, der meinte: "Vielleicht fahren Sie heute in der Mauretania-Klasse, aber vielleicht kann ich Sie ja dafür begeistern, mal später die Grill-Klassen zu buchen". Und tatsächlich ergab sich die Gelegenheit für uns mal den Princess Grill auf der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2012 (2. Reise) auszuprobieren. Daher wusste ich ja schon, dass man nicht einfach so reinmarschiert, sondern man wartet diskret am Eingang, bis jemand auftaucht und empfängt. Und das war in diesem Fall der zuständige Maître D' für den Princess Grill. Dem habe ich dann eben meine Beobachtungen geschildert. Darüber hat er sich so gefreut, dass er mich fragte, ob ich vielleicht am gleichen Abend im Princess Grill essen möchte. Um nicht enterbt zu werden, habe ich dankend abgelehnt und gefragt, ob ich mal mittags kommen dürfte. Man nutzt solche Angebote nicht schamlos aus, in dem man seine Familie mitbringt. Und da meine Eltern ja eh lieber mittags am Büffet früh essen, komme ich daher alleine. Es lohnt sich also, auch mal LAUT dein Lob auszusprechen. Und das sollte jeder auf seiner auf seiner Kreuzfahrt tun, weil die Crew so hart arbeitet, damit es uns gut geht. Und so sieht man auch, was man mehr im Princess Grill bekommt und warum sich evtl. eine Buchung darin lohnt. Neben der exklusiven Atmosphäre, gibt es anderes Angebot und eine andere der Präsentation: die Kaltschale ist wirklich "kalt". Ich habe mich wirklich über dieses Angebot gefreut. Und vor allem eines: so etwas beeinflusst schon mein Buchungsverhalten, wie man einige Tage später sehen wird.

Aber ich habe den Eindruck, dass es wohl eher darum geht, Martinis zu verkaufen...

Vorhin noch eine Präsentation über den Weltall und nun der passende Film dazu "Guardians of the MEIN SCHIFF 1"... sorry - musste sein: "Guardians of the Galaxy"...



Before they had the presentation of the universe and the appropiate movie "Guardians of the MEIN SCHIFF 1"... sorry for the joke German cruisers would understand. The former Celebrity ship GALAXY was today MEIN SCHIFF 1. So the movie was "Guardians of the Galaxy"...

And even in 3D. I went in for few minutes. But honestly: I was not such a real fan of Science Fiction except they had "Buck Rogers" or "Barbarella"... (most of the older readers may remember...).



Und sogar in 3D. Ich gehe für wenige Minuten rein. Aber ganz ehrlich: ich bin nicht so ein Science-Fiction-Fan, außer wenn "Buck Rogers" läuft... oder "Barbarella"... (die Älteren von uns wissen Bescheid...).

Im Queen's Room spielen VIBZ wieder schöne Tanzmusik.

I had my fun in the Commodore Club. Does anybody remember "Cheers"? Do you remember the lyrics of the song? "Where everybody knows your name; And they're always glad you came...". Exactly that was the way I felt here: I was welcomed "Good Evening Mr. Tien" - "Hello Mr. Yao". My cabin no. I must not say anymore to place my orders. And here they had the mixer-can Ginger Ale: Flight size 5 oz.. Perfect for me: ginger (in extracts), half as much sugar as in a 11 1/3 oz. can, half as much carbonate acid as in a 11 1/3 oz. can and it was really cheap. And especially: I cannot drink anymore at once. So perfect for me! And that was why I loved to come to this place. And because of the music: Bernadette remebered me to a friend Cissandra who played then like on CANBERRA and Vicky Carr too. Cissandra taught me how to make yourself favorite person and have your requests played. So I asked a waiter to offer her a drink and thanks to Cissandra I know which songs werre "good" for a female pianist and which were "useless". So I got all my requests played ("The Way you look tonight", "Misty", "Just the Way you are", "La mer", "Fly me to the Moon") and everytime I got a: "One of my favorite songs" - yes, I remember very well to Cissandra, which song she like to play and which she did not. I had also the request to have a picture with the entire bar team. I was told to return when I should return to have everyone on the picture. With the 3rd attempt I made it finally that night. As I ordered for everyone of the bar a print and posted such pictures in my Happy World Facebook everyone get notice of it. Especially everyone noted that I posted them also on Cunard Chronicale all my pictures and put appropiate comments which made everyone on board very happy. So friends and family of the crew-members could see and "liked" it. You will not find any pictures of the condition of the balcony furnitures on Facebook: as said before: Facebook is my Happy World. And part of my Happy World were those crew-members who treated me very well. On this picture you find also Bar-Manager Svitlana. She was the person the day before who sent me away to discover the wide wide world of QUEEN MARY 2 to make my own picture what QUEEN MARY 2 offered and not just rate because few lines in the daily programme. Thanks again to her and her wonderful team: James, Jason, Dejan, Marian, Nadya, Govender and another James.



Ich habe meinen Spaß im Commodore Club. Kennt jemand noch "Cheers"? Wie hieß es im Titellied? "Where everybody knows your name; And they're always glad you came..." (Wo jeder deinen Namen kennt; Und sie freuen sich immer, wenn du kommst...). Genauso fühle ich mich hier auch: ich werde immer schon "Good Evening Mr. Tien" - "Hello Mr. Yao" begrüßt. Meine Kabinennummer brauche ich für meine Bestellungen nicht mehr zu nennen. Und es gibt hier die Mixer-Dosen Ginger Ale: die Flugzeug-Größe 150 ml. Perfekt für mich: Ingwer (in Auszügen), halb so viel Zucker, wie eine 330 ml Dose, halb so viel Kohlensäure, wie eine 330 ml Dose und vor allem schön preiswert. Aber vor allem: mehr schaffe ich eh nicht zu trinken. Also perfekt für mich! Und daher komme ich gerne hierher. Und wegen der Musik: Bernadette erinnert mich an eine Freundin Cissandra, die u. a. früher auf der CANBERRA gespielt hat und auch an Vicky Carr. Von Cissandra weiss ich, wie man sich beliebt macht, und alle Musikwünsche erfüllt bekommt. Ich bitte einen Kellner ihr einen Drink anzubieten und dank Cissandra weiss ich, welche Lieder für eine Pianistin "gut" sind und welche "unbrauchbar". So bekomme ich meine Wünsche ("The Way you look tonight", "Misty", "Just the Way you are", "La mer", "Fly me to the Moon") alle erfüllt und jedes Mal kommt ein: "Einer meiner Lieblingsstücke" - ja, ich erinnere mich gut an Cissandra, von der ich weiß, was sie gerne als Pianistin gespielt hat und was nicht. Ich äußere den Wunsch ein Bild vom gesamten Bar-Team zu machen. Mir wird gesagt, wann ich am Besten wiederkommen soll, um auch alle auf das Bild zu bekommen. Und im 3. Anlauf am Abend gelingt es mir. Da ich für alle Mitglieder des Bar-Teams einen Abzug bestelle und auch das Bild auf meine Happy World Facebook poste, spricht es sich wohl schnell an Bord herum. Vor allem spricht es sich herum, dass ich auf die Cunard-Chronik die Bilder poste und entsprechende Kommentare schreibe, worüber sich alle Bord sehr freuen, weil nach und nach die Freunde der Crew Mitglieder sehen und entsprechend mit einem "Gefällt mir" quittieren. Man wird also keine Bilder über den Zustand der Balkon-Möbel auf Facebook finden. Wie gesagt: Facebook ist meine Happy World. Und zu meiner Happy World gehören auch die Crew-Mitglieder, die mich gut behandeln. Und auf dem Bild ist auch Bar-Managerin Svitlana. Sie war diejenige tagszuvor, die mich in die weite Welt der QUEEN MARY 2 rausgejagt hat, damit ich mir ein eigenes Bild über das Angebot auf der QUEEN MARY 2 bilde und nicht aufgrund der wenigen Zeilen im Tagesprogramm. Vielen Dank an sie und ihr Team: James, Jason, Dejan, Marian, Nadya, Govender und ein weiterer James.

Wir gehen zum Abendessen. Ich finde es wieder sehr gut. Meine beiden Kellner Sachin und Sorin beraten mich immer sehr gut und sagen mir, was sehr weich gekocht ist und was ich damit gut essen kann. Eines vertrage ich erstaunlich gut: Blattsalate... ist ja oft nur grünes Wasser!



We went again for dinner. I liked it very much. Both of my two waiters Sachin and Sorin gave me good consultation what was prepared very soft and what I might eat easily. One I could eat very easily: lettuce... mostly green water.

And that night too a view to the King's Court: also that night they had a special dessert.



Und auch heute Abend einen Blick in den King's Court: auch heute gibt es wieder ein besonderes Dessert.

On the portside of the Commodore Club there was the Boardroom which was used for private events or wedding ceremonies. That was the background reason for change of the flags: on British ships the Captains may not wed. But under the flag of the Bermudas you may wed and the Union Jack is part of flag.



Auf der Backbord-Seite vom Commodore Club ist der Boardroom, der beispielsweise für private Empfänge und Hochzeitszeromonien genutzt wird. Das ist ja auch der Hintergrund für Änderung der Flagge: Auf britischen Schiffen darf der Kapitän nicht trauen. Und unter der Flagge Bermudas ist zumindest der Union Jack zumindest mit vertreten und es darf an Bord getraut werden.

Schade, dass der Raum so wenig genutzt wird.



So sad the room was not use so frequently.

Was simply nice.
