Tag/Day 3 auf der/on QUEEN VICTORIA in Hamburg, Germany

Es geht zum Frühstück. Izat hatte mir am Vorabend zugesichert, dass ich Congee zum Frühstück bekomme. Ich bekomme die japanische Version mit einer Misosuppe. Am Vortag fiel mir auf, dass der Danish-Mann fehlt, der sonst das Frühstücksgebäck von Tisch zu Tisch angeboten hat. Man musste wohl jetzt danach fragen. Für mich haben jedoch ein Tablett hergerichtet und als dann die anderen Tische das sahen, wollten die es auch. Unser Kellner hat schnell das Tablett weggebracht. Unsere Kellner waren sowieso exzellent: Jeffrey und Rodencio.



It's going to be breakfast. Izat had assured me the night before that I would have congee for breakfast. I get the Japanese version with miso soup. The day before, I noticed that the Danish man who offered the breakfast pastries from table to table needed to be included. You may have to ask about it now. However, they prepared a tray for me, and when the other tables saw it, they wanted it too. Our waiter quickly took the tray away. Our waiters, Jeffrey and Rodencio, were excellent anyway.

Erwin informed us that we had plenty of time to leave the cabin. There was a sea rescue exercise for the crew, and he said he couldn't be with us so early anyway. As we went to our cabin, we saw a cabin stewardess organizing the moves of some of the guests on the world tour. She packed everything and took it to another cabin.



Erwin hat uns Bescheid gegeben, dass wir viel Zeit haben, um die Kabine zu verlassen. Es findet eine Seenotrettungsübung für die Crew statt und da meinte er, dass er es eh nicht schaffen würde, so früh bei uns zu sein. Als wir unsere Kabine verlassen, sehen wir wie eine Kabinenstewardess den Umzug von einigen Gästen der Weltreise organisiert. Sie packt alles und bringt es in eine andere Kabine.

Für 10:30 Uhr haben wir ein Taxi vorbestellt. So haben wir noch Zeit für einen letzten Cappuccino im Chart Room.

As usual with Cunard, the invoice comes on paper, so you can still check it. When we arrive, there is a clear blue sky. We leave the ship via the promenade deck. But it's pretty smooth. And there is still snow on the ground on the land side.



Wie bei Cunard üblich: die Rechnung kommt als Papier, so dass man sie noch überprüfen kann. Als wir ankommen, ist strahlend blauer Himmel. Das Schiffen verlassen wir über das Promenaden-Deck. Das ist aber ziemlich glatt. Und auf der Landseite liegt noch Schnee auf dem Boden.

Unten am Ausgang werden ausschiffende Gäste zum Flughafen und Bahnhof von den Intransit-Gästen für den kostenlosen Shuttle getrennt. Nur noch Europcar ist vor Ort vertreten, aber nur wenn man zuvor vorbestellt hat.





Über FreeNow bestelle ich ein Elektro-Taxi vor. Über die normale App von Taxi Hamburg bzw. Uber konnte ich nichts vorbestellen. Der Tesla kann unser gesamtes Gepäck fassen. Wir fahren zum Bahnhof Altona, damit wir früh in den Zug einsteigen können. Aber die Ankunft unseres Zuges verzögert sich und der Bahnsteig hat gewechselt, so dass wir die ganze Länge des ICE zum Querbahnsteig laufen müssen und dann wieder am anderen Bahnsteig ganz nach vorne.



I pre-order an electric taxi via FreeNow. I couldn't pre-order anything using the regular Taxi Hamburg or Uber app. The Tesla can hold all of our luggage. We will drive to the Altona train station to get on the train early. But the arrival of our train was delayed, and the platform had changed, so we had to walk the entire length of the High-Speed Train ICE to the cross-platform and then back to the front of the other platform.



Als wir im ICE sitzen und die Tiefkühlung defekt ist, und wir nur dieses Sandwich bekommen, wissen wir: wir sind leider nicht mehr auf der QUEEN VICTORIA. Das war es von unserer QUEEN VICTORIA reisen. Im März geht es auf die CELEBRITY INFINTY und mit Cunard geht es Anfang Januar 2025 wieder auf die QUEEN MARY 2 von New York nach Southampton. Die Flüge mit Singapore Airlines sind gebucht. Das Hotel in New York gebucht. Und jetzt ist die Frage, wie wir nach Hause kommen - nächstes Jahr und heute. Aber unser Zug ist enigermaßen pünktlich. Nur dass wir über Köln fahren, weil es genauso schnell im Moment geht, wie über Hannover.

In March, we're going on the CELEBRITY INFINITY, and with Cunard, we're going back on the QUEEN MARY 2 from New York to Southampton at the beginning of January 2025. The flights with Singapore Airlines are booked, and the hotel in New York is booked. And now the question is how do we get home - next year and today? But our train is highly punctual. Except we're going via Cologne because it's just as fast as it is via Hanover.

Seetag/Day at Sea 2 auf der/on QUEEN VICTORIA

Da wir gestern Abend ja nicht im Britannia essen waren, habe ich kein Sonderessen vorbestellt. Also probiere ich mal etwas von der nornalen Karte: die gekochten Eier gibt es wieder als Pärchen, obwohl ich nur ein einzelnes bestellt habe. Ich nehme nochmals Fisch, aber daran werde ich mich nie gewöhnen.



Since we didn't eat at Britannia last night, I didn't pre-order a special meal. So I tried something from the regular menu: the boiled eggs are again available as a pair, even though I only ordered one. I'll have fish again but never get used to it.

Again, we go to the Chart Room several times a day. I have no complaints about the cold coffee drinks. I'll give the Virgin Mary another chance. I can't tolerate alcohol. I pull at the straw once, and I don't feel good. I don't have a Virgin Mary, and I have a Bloody Mary. I asked the bar if a Bloody Mary was mistakenly mixed. They immediately apologized and brought me a Virgin Mary. When making the new Virgin Mary, they didn't think about the fact that I wanted it less spicy. I give up.



Wieder geht es mehrfach am Tag in den Chart Room. Bei den kalten Kaffeegetränken habe ich nichts zu beklagen. Ich gebe der Virgin Mary nochmals eine Chance. Ich vertrage keinen Alkohol. Ich ziehe einmal am Strohhalm und mir geht es nicht gut. Ich habe keine Virgin Mary, sondern Bloody Mary. Ich gehe zur Bar und erfrage, ob irrtümlich eine Bloody Mary gemixt wurde. Sie entschuldigen sich sofort und bringen mir sofort eine Virgin Mary. Bei der Herstellung der neuen Virgin Mary haben sie nicht mehr daran gedacht, dass ich es weniger scharf wollte. Ich gebe auf.

Wir kommen zurück zur Kabine. Hier wartet eine Überraschung auf uns. Auf der QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 haben wir Nenad kennengelernt. Wir haben uns mit ihm angefreundet. Wir haben ihn zwischenzeitlich ihn auf der QUEEN VICTORIA später in Gdingen besucht. Danach hatten wir Glück und sind ihm zuletzt auf der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023 wiederbegnet. Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß mit ihm. Als er vom anderen Ende in Australien auf der QUEEN ELIZABETH hört, dass wir auf der QUEEN VICTORIA sind, lässt er uns einen Gruß zukommen, über den wir uns sehr freuen. Mit unserem Kabinensteward Erwin haben wir sehr viel Glück. Er ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Dass unsere Kabine 110%-ig in Ordnung war, versteht sich von selbst.



We come back to the cabin. A surprise awaits us here. We met Nenad on QUEEN VICTORIA 2022. We became friends with him. In the meantime, we visited him on QUEEN VICTORIA later in Gdynia. After that, we were lucky and last met him again on QUEEN ELIZABETH 2023. We had a lot of fun with him. When he hears from the other end of Australia on QUEEN ELIZABETH that we are on QUEEN VICTORIA, he sends us a greeting that we are pleased about. We are fortunate with our cabin steward, Erwin. He is very friendly and attentive. Our cabin was 110% fine.









Captain Hoyt was on duty on the QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 voyage. Today, he is also the captain. The Douglas Ward is finally back on the market. It is in one format and is no longer issued by Berlitz but by Insight Guides. Even now, he has signed in my Douglas Ward. They also want to get rid of us. The disembarkation information and luggage tags are also there.



Auf der Reise QUEEN VICTORIA 2022 war Kapitän Hoyt im Dienst. Heute ist er auch der Kapitän. Der Douglas Ward ist endlich wieder auf dem Markt. Er ist in einem Format und wird nicht mehr von Berlitz ausgegeben, sondern von Insight Guides. Auch jetzt hat er in meinem Douglas Ward unterschrieben. Sie wollen uns auch wieder loswerden. Die Ausschiffungsinformationen und Gepäckanhänger sind auch da.





In einem schwulen Kreuzfahrerforum habe ich Andreas kennengelernt, mit dem wir zusammen zu Mittag essen.

We later went to the Queens Room and met Wolfgang and Christiane, whom we know from the Cunard Facebook group. We're waiting for tea time here, but it's in the Britannia restaurant today. This is the first time we've experienced this. They probably expected more guests at the only tea time on this short cruise and covered this.



Wir gehen später in den Queens Room, und treffen uns mit Wolfgang und Christiane, die wir aus der Cunard Facebook-Gruppe kennen. Eigentlich warten wir hier auf die Tea-Time, aber die findet heute im Britannia-Restaurant statt. Das haben wir noch nie erlebt. Sie haben auf dieser kurzen Kreuzfahrt wohl mehr Gäste zur einzigen Tea-Time erwartet und daher hier gedeckt.



There is a great special offer on Barbour wax jackets. Alex goes to the trouble of looking for the right size for Bruno in the warehouse and finds one. Since he has a charming French accent when he speaks English, it is clear that he is French. So I'm trying my French.



Es gibt Barbour-Wachsjacken als tolles Sonderangebot. Alex macht sich die Mühe im Lager nach der passenden Größe von Bruno zu suchen und findet ein Exemplar. Da er einen charmanten französischen Akzent hat, wenn er Englisch spricht, ist es klar, dass er Franzose ist. So versuche ich mich an meinem Französisch.







Today, "Gala optional". Many people wear tuxedos. I'll stick with the tie. Andreas eats with us. Maître D' Izat, whom we know from QUEEN VICTORIA 2022, is waiting for us at the entrance. We also know Desiree from this trip. We had a great evening at Lido Alternative Dining. I asked her if I could have a saltimbocca as a special meal. But that was too much. At least I get a steak, but the cruise ends as it began. They want to make it easy for me so that I leave the ship voluntarily: There is broccoli as a side dish.



Heute ist "Gala optional". Viele sind mit Smoking unterwegs. Ich bleibe bei der Krawatte. Andreas ißt mit uns. Am Eingang erwartet uns Maître D' Izat, den wir von der QUEEN VICTORIA 2022. Auch Desiree kennen wir von dieser Reise. Wir hatten da einen tollen Abend im Lido Alternative Dining. Ich frage bei ihr nach, ob ich nicht ein Saltimbocca als Sonderessen haben kann. Aber das war doch zuviel. Zumindest bekomme ich ein Steak, aber die Kreuzfahrt endet so, wie sie angefangen kann. Sie wollen es mir leicht machen, damit ich freiwillig von Bord gehe: Es gibt als Beilage Brokkoli.
