Tag/Day 3 auf der/on QUEEN ELIZABETH in Southampton, England

Die Rechnung ist da. Da wir eine Kreditkarte hinterlegt haben, können wir später noch weiter Getränke an Bord kaufen. Und doch noch etwas aus der Minibar zu nehmen. Überraschend: zunächst wurde es abgelehnt, dass wir noch Kaffee kaufen, weil man uns sagt, dass man kein Bargeld annimmt. Zuletzt auf der MARCO POLO 2019 hatten sie damals auf Barzahlung bestanden, obwohl wir eine Kreditkarte hinterlegt haben.



The bill arrived. Since we registered a credit card, we could still buy drinks on board later. And yet, we could take something out of the minibar. Surprisingly, it was initially rejected to buy some more coffee, because we were told now that they would not accept cash. The last time at MARCO POLO 2019, they insisted on cash payment, even though we deposited a credit card.

I was "angry" with our captain! Since we docked at the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal: why could not we were the first in port? Then all other ships else should pass us. Unfortunately, we were the last, so I could hardly get the other three ships around in front of my camera.



Ich bin "böse" auf unsere Kapitänin! Da wir ja am Queen Elizabeth II Terminal anliegen: hätten wir nicht die ersten im Hafen sein können? Dann hätten alle anderen bei uns vorbeifahren müssen. Leider sind wir die letzten, so dass ich kaum noch die anderen drei Schiffe im Hafen vor die Linse bekomme.

Später fahren wir noch mit dem Auto auf die andere Uferseite und nehmen die AURORA auf, die am Mayflower Terminal liegt.

It was unusual that QUEEN MARY 2 was docking at City Terminal. Last time we docked at Queen Elizabeth II Terminal coming in on QUEEN MARY 2 2018.



Ungewöhnlich: QUEEN MARY 2 liegt am City Terminal. Auch zuletzt lagen wir mit der QUEEN MARY 2 2018 am Queen Elizabeth II Terminal.

Am Ocean Terminal liegt unser Schiff vom vergangenen Jahr: VENTURA 2018.

Heute Morgen beim Frühstück klappt alles wie gewohnt. Nur die Bitte nach nur einem Rührei wird wie üblich von der Küche ignoriert. Auch Zeit vom Team im Britannia Club Abschied zu nehmen: Sebastio kennen wir von einer früheren Kreuzfahrt, sowie Eduard, Inderjeet, Niel und Lisandro.



This morning it worked pretty fine with our breakfast. Only the request for one single scrambled egg was ignored by the galley as usual. It was time to say good-bye from the team of the Britannia Club. Sabastio, we somehow knew from a previous cruise, and Eduard, Inderjeet, Niel, and Lisandro.

We should generally wait in the theater, but there was no coffee bar service available. So we noticed quite late that all other guests already left the ship and all the bags were already moved ashore. No announcements were made outside the assembly venues. They had no screen onboard.



Wir hätten eigentlich im Theater warten sollen, aber dort bekommt man nichts von der Kaffeebar. Deswegen bekommen wir auch zu spät mit, dass alle anderen Gäste schon längst von Bord sind und auch alle Koffer schon an Land sind. Ansagen werden außerhalb der Sammelpunkte nicht gemacht. Bildschirme gibt es ja leider nicht an Bord.

Auf der Suche nach einem Stück Strand ohne Sichtbehinderung werden wir in einem privat-gesicherten Wohngebiet eingeschlossen. Aber zum Glück haben wir jemanden gefunden, der uns wieder rausgelassen hat. Danach haben wir aber zum Glück nette Jogger und Autowäscher erklären, wie man zum öffentlichen Strand kommt. Es gibt wohl ein Privatgrundstück und den Marchwood Yacht Club, die Wegerechte der Öffentlichkeit gewähren müssen. Aber von dort können wir tatsächlich ohne Sichtbehinderung Bilder von der AURORA am Mayflower Terminal machen.



In search of a section of public beach with no obstruction, we got locked in a privately secured residential area. But luckily, we found someone who let us out. After that, we luckily found nice joggers and car washers, who explained how to get to the public beach. There was probably a private property and the Marchwood Yacht Club that had to grant public access rights. But from there, we could actually take pictures of the AURORA at the Mayflower Terminal without any obstruction.

We went to our usual place, which included a ferry ride by Blue Funnel Hythe Ferry, to take pictures of our QUEEN ELIZABETH. Accidentally, we passed our balcony and discovered Rachel, who was cleaning there. We shouted out loud her name, and she waved us back.



Wir fahren zu unseren üblichen Orten inkl. Fährüberfahrt mit der Blue Funnel Hythe Ferry, um auch unsere QUEEN ELIZABETH zu fotografieren. Zufällig fahren wir an unserem Balkon vorbei und entdecken Rachel, die gerade dort saubermacht. Wir rufen ihren Namen und sie winkt uns zurück.

Zum ersten Mal werden wir am Pier der Fähre in Hythe kontrolliert, ob wir eine Fahrkarte oder Pierkarte haben, bevor wir auf den Pier dürfen.



It was the very first time at the pier of the ferry in Hythe, England, that somebody checked the ferry or the pier ticket before they let us go on the pier.

The joggers gave us another tip: we should definitely go to SeaShells in Hythe to dine. We have never been here before, although we often walked past it. The joggers told us that it would be a paradise for ship spotters (when setting sail!) And also for the decoration. The food was also delicious. I was looking forward to the typical English Sunday roast.



Die Jogger geben uns noch einen Tipp: wir sollten unbedingt in Hythe bei SeaShells essen gehen. Bisher waren wir hier noch nie, obwohl wir oft schon daran vorbeigelaufen sind. Die Jogger erzählen uns, dass es ein Paradies für Shipspotter (beim Auslaufen!) ist und auch von der Dekoration. Das Essen ist auch sehr gut. Ich freue mich auf den typischen englischen Sonntagsbraten.

Wir geben am Terminal 5 unser Auto wieder bei Avis ab. Schnell geht es durch den Check-In und die Sicherheitskontrolle. Wir haben noch soviel Zeit, dass wir noch bei Gordon Ramsay Plane Food Kaffee und Kuchen zu uns nehmen und noch für unterwegs etwas mitnehmen.



We returned our car to Avis at Terminal 5. Check-in and security control went quickly. We still had so much time that we still could have coffee and cake at Gordon Ramsay Plane Food and took something with us on the go.

I had two pieces of hand luggage. AT THE GATE, they were looking for volunteers who were still willing to check in one part of the baggage. To do this, you could go with Group 1 on board. I quickly repacked and handed over my backpack. If you already reacted to the SMS and emails and handed them over at the counter in the check-in area or in the transit area, there would be no priority boarding.



Ich habe zwei Handgepäckstücke mit. AM GATE sucht man Frewillige, die noch bereit sind ein Gepäckstück aufzugeben. Dafür darf man mit der Gruppe 1 an Bord. Ich packe schnell um und gebe meinen Rucksack auf. Wenn man schon auf die SMS und E-Mails reagiert und am Schalter in der Abfertigung oder im Transitbereich abgibt, gibt es kein Priority Boarding.

An Bord habe ich zwar mein Sandwich, aber das könnte ich auch noch später zu Hause essen. Pie in the Sky vom Sternekoch Tom Kerridge interessiert mich, aber sie haben es noch nicht an Bord. Ich kaufe die gleichen Getränke wie auf dem Hinflug: Longbottom & Co. Virgin Mary Tomatensaft und Jimmy's Iced Coffee (made in Germany, obwohl als britisch verkauft). Irgendjemand hat den Bildschirm über mir geklaut, so dass ich nichts von dem Sicherheitsvideo mitbekomme.



I had my sandwich on board, but I could eat that later at home. Pie in the Sky from star chef Tom Kerridge interested me, but they did not have it on board yet. I bought the same drinks as on the outbound flight: Longbottom & Co. Virgin Mary tomato juice and Jimmy's Iced Coffee (made in Germany - although they sold it as British). Someone stole the screen above me, so I did not follow the safety video.

It worked pretty well: my backpack arrived in good condition in Frankfurt, Germany.

Wir rufen an, dass wir unser Gepäck haben und gehen zum Treffpunkt mit unserem Valet-Parkdienst "Park Mich".



After we collected our bags, we called the valet-parking service "Park Mich" and moved to the meeting point.

Then Bruno came, who see the toilet.



Da kommt auch Bruno, der noch schnell auf Toilette war.

Aber mehr Zeit gab es nicht: unser Wagen ist schon da. Hat super geklappt.



But we had no more time: our car already arrived. It worked pretty well.
