Tag/Day 4.2 auf der/on QUEEN ELIZABETH in Hamburg, Germany

The walls could not help to keep the coldness out of the ship.

It was very unpleasent.

We should leave the cabin around 08.30 hrs. But when I was ready it was 08.45 hrs. Then we went to the theater which was quite empty.

Around 08.50 hrs we were already told that we can leave the ship and the bags should be available for collection.

Welcome to Hamburg and I am not welcome to be back at 16.30 hrs. How nice this would be...

They did not re-use the old mats from QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 and tried to erase the 2...

In the future I should use Europcar (National/Alamo) and Sixt if I need to exit in Altona again.

Here we had a long ramp.

It made a better appearance than in the other cruise terminal in the Grasbrook area.

Here the transit guests had to leave the terminal and there was an agent from the tourist office available.

There was a free shuttle to the Town Hall available but not for us disembarking guests.

You really better should know how much more you get if you are paying for and going on Cunard.

Hans-Hermann left already and Tinamama said before in the internet-forum that they would prefer to walk from here to the Central Station. So we took a car ourselves to Central Station although Altona Station would be close around the corner.

But there was a 1st-class lounge in Central Station which was full of guests from QUEEN ELIZABETH.

We did not like anymore food but a cup of coffee would be right good now.

Only the christmas tree surprised me on January 8, 2012.

Nur der Weihnachtsbaum verwundert noch etwas am 08.01.2012.

Im Zug gibt es die erste Mahlzeit. Das ist kein Cunard-Stil...

In the train we had our first meal. But that was not Cunard style...

I was wondering if Bruno was dreaming on the next Cunard-voyage. Maybe a good occassion to tell on all bookings I made meanwhile and to explain what I need his credit card details for...

Treffpunkt Terminal 1, Abflug, Ausgang C7.

At the airport we ordered our pick-up service for 15.40 hrs. Meeting point Terminal 1, Departure Level, Exit C7.

15.40 hrs sharp a van arrived just for us alone.

Unser Auto steht immer doch.

Our car was still there.

Onboard someone told us a story that bags landed in the water. Just to calm you down: we laundried the baggage tags in the pockets of our shirts: all were fine. So if your bags landed in the water and you have noted your name and address properly: then they will be able to identify your bags and to return the wet bags home.
