Tag/Day 1.5 auf der/on QUEEN ELIZABETH in Southampton, England

Wahrscheinlich hat Bruno schon alles durcheinander gebracht und nichts kann ich mehr jungfreudig fotografieren. Wir hatten uns eine Balkonkabine gegönnt, weil die Preise so niedrig waren, dass ich die Einfahrt in Hamburg vom eigenen Balkon sehen wollte. Aber wenn ich gewusst hätte, was uns noch alles auf uns zukommt, würde ich sie nicht nochmals buchen.



I think Bruno arranged already a disorder in the cabin and I cannot take any pictures of an untouched cabin. We afforded a balcony cabin because I wanted to see how we enter Hamburg from our own balcony. But if I would have known what would happen to us I would not have book it again.

When we checked in we were asked on which Cunard-ships we have been. When we told that we already know QUEEN VICTORIA they only told us that we need know that we have to use the card slot at the door to have electricity in our cabin. But I normally use my AAA-card to make sure that our electric devices will be loaded even there we are not in the cabin.



Beim Check-In wurden wir gefragt, auf welchem Cunard-Schiffen wir gewesen seien. Nach dem antworteten, dass wir die QUEEN VICTORIA bereits kennen, wurden wir hingewiesen, dass es auf dem Schiff einen Kartenschacht für die Energiezufuhr in der Kabine gibt. Ich hatte nutze aber für solche Zwecke lieber die ADAC-Karte, falls wir mal etwas aufladen mussten und dann es vielleicht nicht aufgeladen wird.

Unser Gepäck war da, bloß Bruno nicht. Er war wie sich hinterher herausstellte zum Essen gegangen. Und mir knurrte der Magen und gleich schließen alle Einrichtungen, weil ja Seenotrettungsübung ist.



Our bags were in but Bruno was not. He told me later that he went out to have lunch. I was hungry at all but all food outlets will be closed very soon because of the life drill which should start soon.

No big differences compared to their style on QUEEN VICTORIA.



Vom Stil her hat sich gegenüber der QUEEN VICTORIA nichts verändert.

Mir gefällt es, Bruno nicht. Er bekommt eine Schlafmaske für unsere nächste Reise auf der QUEEN VICTORIA oder QUEEN ELIZABETH.



I liked it. Bruno did not. He will get a sleeping mask for our next voyage on QUEEN VICTORIA or QUEEN ELIZABETH.





This was great: card or code. We could choose ourselves.



Das war gut: Karte oder Code. Konnten wir uns selbst aussuchen.

Bademantel, Pantoffeln - alles da.



Bath ropes, slippers - we did not miss anything.

This time the magnets were strong enough. But they did not change the stupid coat hangers.



Und dieses Mal waren die Magnete stark genug. Nur diese blöden Kleiderbügel wurden nicht abgeschafft.

Draußen auf dem Balkon darf man wohl noch rauchen.



Obviously you were still allowed to smoke on the balcony.

This balcony was sold as obstructed view. But it was because of the metall-cover instead of glass.



Der Balkon wurde als eingeschränkte Sicht verkauft. Grund ist die Metall- statt Glaswand.

Schön war auch die Aussicht auf zwei der drei anderen Schiffe. Wie mir Fred. Olsen hinterher auf Facebook schrieb, bat wohl Carnival darum, zu tauschen. Insgeheim hoffte ich, dass alle anderen vor uns ablegen und an meinem Balkon vorbeiziehen. Aber dazu hätte Captain Kim an Bord sein müssen. Der hat ja als einziger für mich als Shipspotter Verständnis. Ich denke mit Wehmut an meine Einlaufparade in Civitavecchia im letzten Herbst.



It was nice too see the other two of three ships. Fred Olsen told me later on Facebook that it was requested by Carnival to change the terminal. I was hoping that all other three ships will leave earlier but our ship and would pass alongside of my balcony. For this wish I would have need Captain Kim onboard who was the only Captain so far who has a certain understanding for me as shipspotter. I remember the arrival parade in Civitaveechia last fall.

Oh how interesting: maybe one of the officers is from Scotland and finally have the occassion to find out if it is true or not what everybody told us...



Oh wie interessant: vielleicht ist ja einer Offiziere aus Schottland und wir bekommen endlich die Möglichkeit herauszufinden, ob es nun stimmt oder nicht stimmt, was behauptet wird...

Leider immer noch ärgerlich: keine Schiebtüren.



Still angry somehow: no sliding doors.





In total we had at the desk 2 US-, 1 UK- and one European outlet. Just behind the TV set there is another US-outlet. So it would not be bad to have few adapters with you. Carrying with us 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, 1 Notebook, 1 kindle, 1 mobile WiFi-Router and 1 camera we had so much technical equipement that we need more than one outlet.



Insgesamt haben wir am Schreibtisch 2 US-, 1 UK- und eine Schuko-Steckdose. Hinter dem Fernseher befindet sich noch eine 1 US-Steckdose. Es schadet daher nichts, wenn man sich doch ein paar Adapter mitnimmt. Mit 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, 1 Notebook, 1 kindle, 1 mobiler WLAN-Router und 1 Kamera sind wir so ausgerüstet, dass wir mit einer Steckdose nicht auskämen.

Zum Glück ist der Fön bereits angeschlossen, so dass es keinen Ärger gibt, wie auf manchen anderen Schiffen, wenn Bruno etwas von mir zum Laden rauszieht, bloß um sich zu föhnen. Das nächste Mal muss er mit Glatze an Bord...



We had luck that the hair dryer had a fix connection so you do not get anger if you have to pull something out the socket while charging to use the hair dryer. Bruno and I experienced this on other ships before. Next time Bruno must come onboard bareheaded.





Then on QUEEN VICTORIA we really missed them. But anyhow we were lucky that this was not the 3rd voyage of the ship at all like then on QUEEN VICTORIA. But we had the impression that the construction was more solid this time.



Damals haben wir sie auf der QUEEN VICTORIA schmerzlich vermisst. Aber zum Glück ist das nicht die 3. Reise des Schiffes, wie damals bei der QUEEN VICTORIA. Insgesamt ist sie gut verarbeitet.

Leider auch wieder die typische Carnival-Klimaanlage, die so furchtbar laut ist und leider auch sehr zugig ist.



Unfortunately again the typical Carnival-air condition which was so extremely loud and breezy.

And the control unit does not allow any fine tuning.



Und die Regulierung leider auch zu grob.

Die gab es bei der QUEEN VICTORIA auch nicht: Schubläden unter den Betten. Schränkt natürlich den Platz für die Koffer unter den Betten ein. Wegen der Nachttischschubladen bekommen zwei von unseren drei mit Milimeterarbeit sie rein. Für den 3. Koffer ist kein Platz mehr. Der wird kurzerhand hinter dem Vorhang an der Balkontür versteckt.



That we had not on QUEEN VICTORIA either: Stowage under the beds. Limits the space for the suitcases under the beds. Due to the bed-drawers we got two of three of our suitcases by pushing very precisely under the bed. For our third suitcase there was no more space. So we placed him behind the curtain at the balcony door.

Good were the toilet-seats. Very solid and glazed. And equipped with such rubber-caps which cannot be removed easily so you cannot sit skew on the seat.



Gut waren diese WC-Sitze. Stabil und glatt. Und vor allem mit solchen Gummi-Polstern augestattet, die nicht so leicht rausfallen, so dass man schief sitzt.

Dass es immer noch die festen Duschköpfe an der Wand gab ist ärgerlich.



That you still have the fixed shower heads on the wall is still angry.

I had the impression they extended the shower head from the wall and you can adjust them easier.



Aber ich meine, dass sie mehr in die Dusche ragt und besser verstellbar ist.

Viele Kleinigkeiten, die bei anderen eingespart wurden.



Many small things other cut due to savings.

Something was wrong here. Never it has been so cold on any other ship but here.



Aber irgendwas stimmt hier nicht. So kalt wie hier war es auf keinem anderen Schiff.

Wir bitten den Steward das mal prüfen zu lassen und hinterlassen eine Nachricht.



We asked the steward to check the situation and left a notice.

Other would be very happy. But we asked with our booking to add a remark that we do not drink alcohol and preferred to have a bottle of water instead. They said when we booked that we would not get anything anyway. But anyhow we noted that for our steward as well as we want to arrange two single-duvees.



Andere würden sich darüber freuen. Wir hatten jedoch bei der Buchung darum gebeten, zu vermerken, dass wir keinen Alkohol trinken und lieber eine Flasche Wasser stattdessen hätten. Uns wurde zwar bei der Buchung gesagt, dass es eh nichts gäbe. Aber auch das notieren wir unserem Steward und bitten darum uns zwei Single-Bettdecken zu besorgen.
